Attorney Karen Moore joined Hildebrand Law Firm at the beginning of 2024. Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in the D.C. and New York City areas, she has been a Wisconsin civil litigation attorney for more than 20 years. Her past legal experience includes employment law, family business, torts/personal injury, civil rights (Title VII and Section 1983), and post-divorce family litigation, as well as eviction defense and adult guardianships.
Her focus throughout her career has been litigation motion practice in state and federal courts and agencies. This includes trial and appellate briefing and appeals involving complex legal research, writing, and analysis. She has worked in private and solo practice, in public interest law, and as a contract attorney hired by other lawyers to write legal briefs.
Karen has taught college classes in politics, law, and ethnic studies, both full-time and part-time, in the UW System and at Pacific University-Oregon. University-level subjects she teaches or has taught include Disability Law and Politics, Urban Inequality, American Government, Employment Law, Women in Politics, Civil Rights and Liberties, Law and Society, and Politics of Urban Inequality. She has also served as a legal education specialist in the Division of Extension at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, written successful grant proposals, conducted grant-funded research, and published scholarship relating to the sociopolitical factors shaping individual and group choices and state-local contests over urban spatial development.
Karen has two adult sons who grew up in Shorewood, Wisconsin and, fortunately, still reside and work in the area. She lives near Lake Michigan, where she enjoys long walks with her aging rescue Coonhound, Jack-Zen, and sailing out of McKinley Marina in the summer months.
